Preparing you for your first agency shift and your journey with us!
Your compliance checklist and support from Medacs Healthcare.
Whether you are just starting out or wanting to work with a different agency, getting your compliance documents in order is the key to starting quickly and safely.
We get it, compliance can feel like the longest part of the process. But it’s also one of the most important. It’s about protecting patients, safeguarding our clients’ services, and most importantly in our eyes, looking after you, our nurses and midwives.
At Medacs Healthcare, we make it easy. Our highly experienced and skilled compliance team is here to guide you through every step, leaving you free to focus on delivering great patient care.
Our experienced compliance team is here to help you but there are a few steps you can take to ensure the process is as easy as possible:
Before starting any agency assignment with us, you must provide valid proof of your right to work in the UK. This is a legal requirement under the Immigration Act and part of the framework compliance checks.
To work as a nurse in the UK, you must hold a valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration. This ensures you meet professional standards and can practise safely.
At Medacs Healthcare, we support you every step of the way, from guidance on maintaining your registration to help with revalidation and compliance checks. Your NMC PIN is your professional identity, and we’ll never compromise it.
To work in any NHS setting, you’ll need a valid DBS Enhanced Certificate. This is a legal requirement under framework agreements and ensures patient safety and compliance.
Your DBS check must be current and include both the Adult and Child Workforce sections. If you’re registered for the DBS Update Service, we can verify your certificate online, making the process quicker and easier.
Before starting any NHS assignment, you’ll need occupational health clearance to confirm you’re fit to work and protect patient safety. This includes providing evidence of required immunisations, such as Hepatitis B, MMR, TB, and Varicella, in line with NHS and HTE framework standards.
Medacs Healthcare makes this process simple by guiding you through what’s needed and helping you gather the right documentation, so you can start your role with confidence and peace of mind.
To work safely and meet compliance standards, all agency nurses and midwives must complete mandatory training before starting an assignment. These modules ensure you’re up to date with best practice and patient safety requirements.
Core Modules Include:
Training must be completed through an approved provider and certificates should be valid and in date. If you need help accessing training, Medacs Healthcare can guide you to trusted providers and make the process simple, so you’re ready to start your role with confidence.
To keep patients safe and maintain your compliance, we need a minimum of two professional references covering the last three years of your employment history (or as much as possible if you’ve worked for less time). These references should come from managers or senior colleagues who can confirm your job title, dates of employment, and suitability for the role.
At Medacs Healthcare, we make this process simple. We’ll guide you through what’s needed and help you gather the right details, so your compliance checks are completed quickly and you can start your new role without delays.
To register with us you must provide an up-to-date CV and covering the last 10 years of employment (or since qualification). Any gaps in employment must be explained and documented.
CV's must include:
To maintain your NMC registration, you must meet revalidation standards every three years. This includes:
Every nurse working through Medacs Healthcare must have appropriate professional indemnity insurance in place before starting any assignment. This is a requirement under the NMC Code and the HTE framework to ensure your protection and patient safety.
Indemnity cover can be provided through your agency, your own policy, or membership of a professional body such as the RCN. It safeguards you against claims of negligence or professional errors, giving you peace of mind while you focus on delivering excellent care.
To make sure you’re paid promptly for your shifts, we’ll need your correct payment details before you start your new role. This includes your bank account information, national insurance number, and any required tax details.
At Medacs Healthcare, we keep this process simple and secure. Once your details are verified, you can relax knowing your payments will be accurate and on time, so you can focus on doing the job you love.

If you're a Nurse or Midwife looking to explore agency opportunities, Medacs Healthcare is here to help you every step of the way — from registration to placement and beyond.
